Hi, I’m Lola! Here's a TL;DR of things I grapple with:
- I do math.
- I think about thinking with a friend from SPARC.
- I write poems.
- I dance.
- I play the violin.
- I take photos and write about them.
Hi, I’m Lola! Here's a TL;DR of things I grapple with:
Thank you for stopping by! I am a current senior at Shanghai Pinghe School, where I’ve been a student for a little over 11 years. I spend all of my waking time thinking, sometimes observing for abnormalities, sometimes probing into structures, and sometimes rationalizing human emotions.
I like math; I really like math. Beyond competitions, research, and writeups, I have also dedicated myself to community-building through efforts of mathematical communication. Read more in the Math section.
It’s hard not to think in the meta after one’s engaged with mathematics for a long-enough time. These thinking about thinking realizations have emerged since eighth grade, but I never found the motivation to write them down until September 2025 – after discovering a mutual interest in metacognition with a friend from SPARC. Read more in the TaT section.
I have been a ballerina for thirteen years, dancing currently at 11.5 hours per week after recovering from an ACL reconstruction surgery in freshman year. Dancing complements my mental explorations with its physical form, and ballet has done a great job in shaping my identity. Read more in the Ballet section.
In my spare time, I write poems. My poems have mainly been reactions to certain emotions or reflections on mathematics, but recently I’ve been working on integrating clearer narratives. Read my poems in the Poetry section.
Sometimes when I experience grief or happiness so strong that none of math, ballet, or poetry could conquer – I would consult the violin, an instrument I’ve been fiddling with for eleven years. Hear me play in the Violin section.
I have strong opinions on things people rarely care about: red pandas are the cutest animals in the world. 6197 is the most wholesome 4-digit integer. Not closing-off parentheses in texts is a sin. So is the pronunciation of “proof” as “pruf.” Growing up is a trap.
Recently I’ve been reading heavily on AI security, programmable cryptography, music theory, and Greek history.
